Political Experience:
This is my first time seeking elected office, and I see that as part of what I bring to the role. My experience has been built outside traditional politics . In clinical leadership, mental health and addictions, child and family services, community programming, organizational leadership, policy and program development, and working directly with people navigating complex systems.
Over more than a decade, I have led teams, developed and improved programs, reviewed outcomes and data, supported frontline professionals, worked alongside families and community partners, and helped translate complex challenges into practical, workable solutions. My experience has included national clinical leadership, work with Indigenous communities and child and family services, and building my own practice, Rewire Tomorrow.
Those experiences have taught me that good leadership begins with listening. It means asking difficult questions, understanding the evidence, recognizing that one solution will not work for every person or every community, and being willing to change course when the outcomes tell us something is not working.
My decision to run for School Trustee comes from wanting to bring that approach into public service. I am not entering this role as a career politician. I am entering it as a parent, a professional, a community member, and someone who has spent years working within systems where decisions directly affect people’s lives. My goal is to listen carefully to students, families, educators, and community partners and contribute thoughtful, evidence-informed leadership to the decisions that shape public education in our community.
Biography
Alexandra Bercea is a Kamloops mother, clinical leader, counsellor, consultant, and founder of Rewire Tomorrow. She brings more than a decade of experience across mental health, addiction recovery, trauma, child and family services, community programs, and national virtual healthcare leadership. Her work has included developing programs, reviewing outcomes and data, supporting families and frontline teams, and translating complex systems into practical supports.
As a single mother raising her son in Kamloops, Alexandra’s interest in public education is also deeply personal. She believes schools should not rely on one-size-fits-all approaches: students, families, educators, and communities have different needs, and good decisions should be informed by evidence, local experience, and direct listening.
She is running for School Trustee in SD73 Area 1. Rather than spending heavily on campaign materials, Alexandra’s preference is to keep her campaign modest and focus on listening to families, educators, students, and community organizations. Her stated priorities include student safety, mental-health supports, literacy and numeracy, attendance, belonging, communication with families, and ensuring available resources are directed as effectively as possible toward students and schools.
